- Located in Rehovot, 22 kilometers south of Tel Aviv and 42 kilometers west of Jerusalem.
- Formally established in 1949. Name after the first President of the State of Israel, Dr. Chaim Weizmann, also a world-renowned chemist.
- One of the world’s leading multidisciplinary research institutions, with around 2,500 scientists, postdoctoral fellows, Ph.D. and M.Sc. students, and scientific, technical, and administrative staff. The Institute has created some 50 multidisciplinary research institutes and centers, most of which provide an intellectual rather than physical framework for joint projects.
- According to the review by the Center for Science and Technology Studies at Leiden University in the Netherlands, the Institute ranks tenth in the world, out of 750, for the quality of its research. It is the only non-US research body to make it to the top ten on the list.
Courses Taught in English
- The Institute offers only graduate and postgraduate studies in the sciences. There is no requirement of knowing Hebrew.
- Master of Science (MSc) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees in five major fields of study: Physical Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Life Sciences, Mathematics and Computer Science and Science Teaching.

Additional Notes
- The Institute is a little away from the main cities, not as convenient for city life, but self-contained and provide a good research environment.
- The Institute is keen to attract overseas researchers and provides good assistance in helping to settle in.
