Even though it was only a short time, I am exceedingly glad to be here in Jerusalem as part of the Lord's testimony.
In 2004, I had an opportunity to stay in Israel for a year. I began to pay attention to Israel.
The reformation of Israel was prophesied in the Old Testament of the Bible. The state of Israel was reformed according to the prophecy. That is very enlightening to me. Not only did Israel rebuild their own country in 1948, they also occupied Jerusalem including the Temple Mount in 1967.
Since then I started to study the Bible and history which are related to Israel, and gradually developed my burden about Israel. 11 years have passed. Now I understand more about God's plan and His love toward Israel, and I appreciate Israel more.
In 2014, I visited Israel again, together with my wife and my daughter. Then in 2015, I had an opportunity to come to Israel with my family and study Hebrew for two months. We can visit and travel in Israel freely for 3 months because of the visa-free agreement between Korea and Israel.
In Jerusalem, you can learn the Hebrew language in the Hebrew University, or in private “ulpan” (Hebrew language course). The private ulpan which I studied was called Milah (www.milah.org) located in central Jerusalem. There are morning and evening classes. I took the morning class, which was from 9am to 12pm, 4 times a week. There are 6 levels. You can keep learning Hebrew step by step. Even you can learn Hebrew intensely during the summer vacation through intensive summer ulpans.
It is very interesting when I can read Hebrew signs on the street and menus in the restaurants. I can also use Hebrew to order from the menu and have a simple conversation with the Jewish people in the park. And it is so moving when I can read the Bible in Hebrew.
In the afternoons or in the days with no class, I could go around and enjoy many famous places in Jerusalem. There are many places to visit. I also went to the Dead Sea with my friends and family. It was a really enjoyable time in Israel.
The gospel was propagated from Jerusalem where Jesus and His disciples started their ministry, to the whole nation. Again this gospel came back to Jerusalem and produced the Lord's golden lampstand. Even though it was only a short time, I am exceedingly glad to be here in Jerusalem as part of the Lord's testimony. May the Lord grant more opportunities to the saints to visit Israel in order to know His love for this Land.
